Monitoring your blood pressure over an extended period provides more comprehensive Blood Pressure data. We can fit you with an unobtrusive monitor that you wear for an extended period, typically 24 hours. When you return to the surgery, a computer programme downloads the data from the monitor.

A blood test is taking a sample of blood for testing in a laboratory. Blood tests have a wide range of uses and are one of the most common types of medical test.

Our Cardiac Clinic monitors patients who have already been diagnosed with heart disease.

This is a quick and simple test that may detect early cancer of the cervix. Cervical smear tests are now free to women between 25 and 60 under the National Cervical Screening Programme. Please let reception know that your appointment is for a smear test. A female doctor or specialised nurse will be booked to carry out the test.

To avail of the free smear test we will require your PPSN number and you need to register with the National Cervical Screening Programme.

Age - Imunisation

2 Months - 6 in 1 (Diptheria, Tetanus, Polio, Whooping Cough, Haemophilus Influenza B and Hepatitis B) plus Pneumococcal Vaccine.

4 Months - 6 in 1 and Meningococcal C Vaccine.

6 Months - 6 in 1; Meningococcal C and Pneumococcal Vaccines.

12 Months - MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) and Pneumococcal Vaccines.

13 Months - Haemophilus Influenza B and Meningococcal C.

Additional immunisations are given by the school doctor at age 4-5 and 11-14 years.

Mount Merrion Medical Clinic is a member of the HSE Mother and Child Scheme which provides free ante natal checks to expecting mothers, 2 week baby check, and 6 week baby checks for mother and baby.

Cryotherapy, or freezing, using a nitrous oxide machine is a suitable treatment for warts and some other skin conditions. We hold a cryotherapy clinic each Wednesday afternoon. Cryotherapy is not suitable for children.

The Mirena Coil consists of a small t-shaped plastic device which is coated with progesterone. The Mirena Coil is the most popular of the coils currently available.

EastDoc

EastDoc is an on-call co-operative arrangement run by the GPs of the area. The service runs from 6pm to 10pm Monday to Friday and from 10am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday. It is based in Carew House on the grounds of St. Vincent's Hospital. An appointment is necessary and the service is only open to patients of this practice and those of other GPs contributing to this on-call service.

Doctor on Duty Medical Bureau provides out of hours cover for most of the Dublin area. They provide a panel of doctors who can do emergency house call during the night or on weekends. Please only use this service if Eastdoc is unavailable and it is absolutely necessary.
